**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Duties**:

- As a professional member of the Indigenous Relations Department, this role will report to the

Team Lead to support coordination and delivery of employment and training initiatives to support
Indigenous employment.
- Contribute to and implement the strategy and work plan for Indigenous Employment and

Training Programs and their components to support BC Hydro’s Indigenous relations approach.
This includes ensuring roles and responsibilities are clear, conducting program management
meetings that support accountability, engaging internal stakeholders, securing outside services,
and managing associated contracts.
- Develop and implement evaluation methods against stated program outcomes. Collect and

compile data and prepare reports to monitor progress and achievement of objectives and to
identify opportunities for improvements. Ensure reports are delivered to key people in the right
form/right time to meet corporate reporting needs.
- Support the Indigenous awareness training Lead to develop and coordinate cultural events.
- Work with BC Hydro’s HR community to align Inclusion and Diversity Initiatives and leverage

existing employment programs to support Indigenous employment.
- Coordinate the scheduling of training to support employment programs including the preparation

of support materials (e.g. FAQs), collection and distribution of course materials and lead members
of the project team through the program process.
- Writes and edits briefing materials, reports and presentations for Executive and other audiences

on BC Hydro’s Indigenous employment and capacity building programs.
- Prepares briefing material for Senior Management and Executive for BC Hydro.

reporting, progress updates and communications to the team and management.- Coordinates the financial and administrative aspects of project implementation and provides

guidance to team.and quality.- Undertakes updates to programs as required.
- Acts as liaison internally with the business groups in order to be successful on delivering the

programs.- Builds ongoing relationship with a wide range of internal and external contacts including

provincial government agencies, municipalities, and other utilities to promote their understanding
- of BC Hydro’s Indigenous Relations principles, vision and values.**Qualifications**:

- University Undergraduate degree in Public Administration, Indigenous Studies,
- communications, anthropology or related discipline or equivalent. A combination of education and
- experience may be considered.- A minimum of 4 years of experience in a business environment (public or private sector

preferably resource-based organization) including experience in managing projects with some
- exposure to cross cultural settings.- Intermediate knowledge and exposure to project management principles is a requirement.

Understanding and exposure to the following is a desired and decisive asset:
- Strong understanding of Indigenous culture and history in the BC context.
- Knowledge of adult learning best practices and methodologies.
- Advanced understanding of BC Hydro’s Indigenous relations strategy and approach.
- Advanced understanding of the BC Hydro organization from a strategic and functional

perspective.- Awareness of other Indigenous awareness training programs and approaches to deliver similar

content is an asset.
- Other desired skills:
- Technical proficiency with Microsoft Suite and Databases
- Budgeting
- Excellent report writing skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Facilitation skills
- Resourceful and a self-starter.

**ADDITIONAL INFORMATION**
- This is a 12 month FTT role.
- This role will involve occasional travel across the province.
- A condition of employment for this job is that you maintain your Driver's License: Class 5 in good

standing.

- First Nations Exposure and understanding;
- Knowledge of BC energy sector;
- Consultation (understanding of basic principles);
- Basic understanding of Project Management;
- Understanding of BC Hydro Business and operations;
