**JOB OVERVIEW**
As a Maintenance Assistant at Harbour City Kitchens, your primary responsibility will be to support the maintenance team with general cleaning, organization, and basic maintenance tasks. You will help ensure the workspace and production equipment are clean, safe, and ready for use. This role provides an excellent opportunity to learn foundational maintenance skills while assisting with routine tasks and ensuring smooth operations in the production facility.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform general cleaning duties to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment, including cleaning equipment, floors, and work areas.
- Assist in routine maintenance tasks, including basic preventative maintenance and monitoring of production equipment under the guidance of senior team members.
- Support the maintenance team with general upkeep and organization of tools, supplies, and equipment.
- Observe equipment operations to identify potential issues and report them to experienced team members or supervisors.
- Collaborate with team members to follow cleaning and maintenance schedules as directed.
- Learn and assist in troubleshooting mechanical issues and performing minor repairs with supervision.
- Assist the production department during downtime with tasks such as general labor or basic cabinet-building activities.
- Participate in keeping accurate records of cleaning and maintenance work performed.
- Follow all company safety protocols and practices, ensuring a clean and safe work area at all times.
- Operate machinery and equipment as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
- Operate the forklift and input material into the TLF/in feeding
**Qualifications**
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role an asset.
- Experience with hand tools and shop equipment (welders, drills, metal cutting tools, etc.).
- Commitment to safety protocols and knowledge of industry-specific safety regulations.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in environments with moderate to high noise levels.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, process-driven environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and digital technology an asset.
- Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems is an asset.
- Forklift and scissor lift experience.
**Additional Information**:
- Training hours will be from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. After training, the shift will move to 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM.
- You will work alongside two other maintenance /production team members.
