**JOB OVERVIEW**
As the **Maintenance Assistant** at Harbour City Kitchens, your primary responsibility will be to support the maintenance team in ensuring the smooth operation of production equipment. You will assist in routine preventative maintenance tasks, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and help with necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist in routine preventative maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of production equipment to ensure reliable operation.
- Learn to troubleshoot mechanical issues and assist with repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
- Follow the preventative maintenance and cleaning schedule under the guidance of experienced team members.
- Observe equipment operation to detect potential hazards or issues and report to senior team members as needed.
- Support the production team with various tasks and jobs.
- During downtown may assist with the production department with building cabinets.
- Participate in maintaining detailed records of maintenance and repair work performed.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to prioritize tasks and ensure smooth production support.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety.
- Work safely and follow all company safety protocols and practices.
- Be willing to learn new skills and receive guidance from experienced team members and supervisors.
- Collaborate with team members to prioritize tasks, share knowledge, and ensure exceptional results.
- Operate machinery and equipment as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a maintenance mechanic or in a similar role an asset.
- Experience with hand tools and shop equipment (welders, drills, metal cutting tools, etc.).
- Commitment to safety protocols and knowledge of industry-specific safety regulations.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in environments with moderate to high noise levels.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, process-driven environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and digital technology an asset.
- Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems is an asset.
- Forklift and scissor lift experience is an asset.
**Additional Information**:
- Training hours will be from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. After training, the shift will move to 10AM to 6:30PM.
- You will work alongside two other maintenance /production team members.

Pay: $26.00-$29.00 per hour
