**The opportunity**:
In response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s (TRC) Call to Action 65, the NCTR and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) launched a joint initiative to establish a Reconciliation Network as a national research program to advance a collective understanding of reconciliation. SSHRC and NCTR invited teams led by First Nation, Métis Nation, or Inuit researchers to submit proposals to form part of the network and contribute to our collective understanding of reconciliation.

The Reconciliation Network Coordination Hub Research Coordinator (Research Coordinator) will assist the NCTR Academic and Research Director and Research Manager in fulfilling NCTR responsibilities as coordination hub of the Reconciliation Network. The Research Coordinator will primarily be responsible for supporting the various project teams that are selected to form part of the Reconciliation Network.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:
**INDIGENOUS APPLICANTS ARE PREFERRED. APPLICANTS MUST SELF-DECLARE ON THEIR COVER LETTER/RESUME AS INDIGENOUS (FIRST NATION, METIS AND/OR INUIT).**

**MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING**:

- Undergraduate degree in a related field required (Indigenous studies, history, sociology, communications, journalism).
- Master’s degree in a field related to communications and/or social sciences and humanities is preferred.
- At least two years of experience in university, community, government, Indigenous, private sector or professional administration working on some combination of communications, knowledge dissemination, research or program development is required.
- Research experience is required; research with Indigenous communities and Indigenous methodologies is highly desirable.
- Experience and/or knowledge of knowledge dissemination, marketing, outreach, networking, communications, programming, and publication activities is required.
- Previous experience working with Survivors, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, or Indigenous communities/organizations is required.
- Experience in social media and video conferencing is preferred.
- Familiarity with SSHRC agency and grant funding opportunities is an asset.
- Experience in publications management is an asset.
- Experience in communication planning and preparing and delivering communication materials (print and digital).
- Experience in event planning and execution.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Competencies with Indigenous cultural awareness, knowledge, and protocols are required.
- Knowledge of Photoshop, Canva, InDesign, Drupal, Wordpress, and social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and/or the ability to learn and adapt to new computer and web programs, and social media trends quickly required.
- Demonstrated ability to foster strong community connections is required.
- Ability to think critically and creatively required.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills required.
- Superior organizational skills required.
- Strong critical thinking skills, with a demonstrated ability to make sound independent judgments, and take initiative required.

- Competency with word processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint presentations and online meeting software required.

- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment required.
- Ability to perform all duties in a professional and diplomatic manner, and able to maintain confidentiality required.
- Must have exceptional decision-making skills including demonstrated ability to think analytically, anticipate and resolve problems, and exercise sound judgement.
