**About the Role**
We are looking for a dynamic **Business Development Manager** to join our team and fuel our continued growth. If you're a results-driven professional with a passion for technical sales in the food industry, this is your opportunity to make a real impact.
**Responsibilities**
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- **Prospect and Qualify Opportunities**: Identify and qualify new business leads using market research, networking, and available resources to build a robust sales pipeline.
- **Customer Engagement**: Provide exceptional support by responding to inquiries, conducting needs assessments, and partnering with existing clients to uncover upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
- **Sales Execution**: Present technical solutions, negotiate contracts, and close deals to meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales targets.
- **Relationship Management**: Nurture long-term client relationships, ensure accurate CRM updates, and collaborate with internal teams (e.g., engineering and management) to deliver customized solutions.
- **Market Intelligence**: Stay ahead of industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging needs in automation, conveying, and packaging to inform sales strategies.
- **Reporting and Collaboration**: Maintain weekly pipeline updates, provide insights on growth opportunities, and contribute to team meetings to align on goals and challenges.
- **Travel and Representation**: Expect extensive local travel (GTA/Niagara region), occasional U.S. trips, and participation in trade shows or client events to promote Jantz Canada's brand.
**What you bring Skills and Qualifications**:
- **Experience**: Minimum 5+ years in sales within automation, conveying, packaging, or related equipment for the food industry (bakery, food & beverage, or fresh produce preferred).
- **Technical Skills**: Proficiency in AutoCAD for basic drawings and layouts; strong understanding of equipment like conveyors, palletizers, case packers, and bulk handling systems.
- **Sales Acumen**: Proven track record of exceeding sales goals through negotiation, closing techniques, and relationship-building.
- **Soft Skills**: Self-starter with excellent presentation, organizational, and time management abilities; thrives in high-pressure, competitive environments; team-oriented yet independent.
- **Professional Tools**: Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM systems; outstanding verbal and written communication.
- **Education**: Bachelor's degree or diploma in business, engineering, marketing, or a related field is a plus, but equivalent experience is valued.
