**Reporting to the AMSA Chair and Board of Directors comprised of senior representatives from Alberta mines, the Manager is responsible for**:

- Representing AMSA in work with regulatory bodies, other agencies, and industries
- Planning, organizing and directing AMSA programs through the creation and maintenance of course materials
- Creating content for social media communications on AMSA’s website, Facebook and Twitter accounts
- Assisting in the preparation and coordination of the yearly Alberta Surface Mine Rescue Competition
- Operations of the organization consistent with the Board’s approved policies, goals and objectives
- Analyze, trend and manage mine safety statistics of member companies
- Provide business updates to members and board on a regular basis
- Act as the primary contact person for the association
- Extensive knowledge and experience leading health and safety initiatives in the mining and regulatory fields.
- Excellent leadership, communication, strategic planning and organizational skills will have been acquired through previous experience in a managerial role.
- A relevant university degree supplemented with courses in occupational health and safety, administration and instructional design is preferred.
- Self-starter who can also work independently with high level of initiative and mínimal supervision
- A relevant diploma supplemented by continuous education and at least 10 years of management experience may also be considered.
- Former mine operations position is considered an asset

This role requires the ability to develop and recommend solutions based on strategic and analytical problem solving. It anticipates trends, creates innovative strategies and flexible plans. The role will also establish priorities, set, and meet goals to accomplish objectives, organize and manage deadlines within time and budget constraints. It includes maintaining open and effective two-way communication, fostering the development of practices which focus on continuous improvement and the need to establish and maintain effective working relationships. This role requires the execution of the Association’s strategic plan while maintaining a high attention to detail.
The AMSA Manager will work at the AMSA office in Nisku, Alberta. The role requires that the individual be comfortable working alone with only occasional direct contact with AMSA Executives and members. Some travel to mine sites across the province will be required.
