**Position Overview**:

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Accounts Payable (AP) Lead will be overseeing the day-to-day operations of the AP department, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, managing a team of AP specialists, monitoring compliance with financial policies, and resolving complex payment issues, acting as the primary point of contact for all AP related matters within an organization; leading the team to maintain efficient financial processes and accurate payment records.

**Responsibilities**:

- Be relied upon as the main point of contact for resolving complex A/P related issues, ensuring compliance with vendor-payment terms.
- Oversees a team of 3-4 AP Clerks/Assistants, assisting daily with responsibilities to ensure adequate coverage and support for our internal and external customers.
- Reviews AP batches to ensure invoices are coded and posted in the accounting system in an accurate and timely manner.
- Oversees/imports weekly electronic funds transfers (EFT), wire payments and cheque run.
- Maintains communication with vendors to ensure any issues are addressed and resolved quickly. Maintain good rapport with major vendors specifically.
- Review and reconcile credit card statements with Concur expense management system
- Prepares monthly AP accruals from Concur system for review by Assistant Controller.
- Meets the month end deadlines by assisting in timely closure of AP function.
- Review of monthly reports to ensure vendor and GL accounts are recorded accurately.
- Provides the required documentation and support for year end.
- Ensure proper maintenance of vendor files in all systems, accounting and expense.
- Maintain documented A/P best practices, identifying inefficiencies and recommending changes for review by senior management.

**Qualifications**:

- Degree or diploma in accounting.
- 3-5 years of supervising AP Clerks/Assistants with a demonstrated ability to manage, mentor and develop staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in working with Sage 300 AP module and Concur is an asset.
- Expertise in reconciling credit card statements, resolving any AP related issues is required.
- Experience in third party expense management software Concur is an asset
- Intermediate level skills in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook are required, as in this role data is exported/imported using Sage 300/Excel/Concur.
- Strong analytical/multitasking skills.
