The Building and Grounds Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the Winakwa Community Centre operates efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards. This position reports to Winakwa Executive board and works directly with the office administrator. This position combines hands-on facility management with administrative oversight, requiring a dynamic, solution-oriented professional with strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

The role is central to creating a welcoming and functional environment for all community members, staff, and stakeholders.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Building & Grounds Maintenance**:
Maintain the building, sports fields, and surrounding grounds to a high standard.
- Conduct regular inspections, including annual walkthroughs with the City of Winnipeg.
- Coordinate maintenance, repairs, and upgrades with tradespeople and contractors.
- Oversee minor repairs (e.g., painting, flooring, door adjustments) and monitor/forecasting long-term facility needs.

**Event & Operations Management**:
Coordinate event setups and logistics, ensuring seamless operations for programs and special events, while maintaining supplies (e.g., Social, Winter Carnival, craft sales).
- Promote hall rentals while expanding advertising and community engagement.
- Assist with program functions, ensuring events align with community values.

**Administrative & Financial Oversight**:

- Collaborate with the board to review budgets, monthly statements, and auditor reports.
- Maintain digital records, electronic filing systems, and support social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, website updates).
- Safeguard the confidentiality of sensitive information, ensuring compliance with data management policies.

**Leadership & Collaboration**:
Supervise, train, and develop staff while conducting annual performance evaluations. Green team and custodian and cleaning staff fall under the responsibility of this role.
- Act as a liaison between the board, community members, and external stakeholders, including General Council Winnipeg Community Centre (GCWCC), City of Winnipeg liaison & contractors.
- Participate in monthly board meetings (third Thursday of each month, except July and August).
- Represent the community center at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in September.
- Provide support during evenings or weekends as required.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the executive board.
- Organize a Health and safety quarterly meeting as well as regular staff meeting.

**Qualifications**:
**Required**

Grade 12 Education or equivalent.
- Tradesperson experience with the ability to perform minor repairs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and digital tools.
- Class 5F Driver's License.
- Clean Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to engage professionally with diverse stakeholders, fostering an inclusive community.
- Ability to lift, carry, move 50 pounds

**Assets**

Bilingual in French.
- Experience with social media management.

Pay: $52,000.00-$64,000.00 per year
