Conditions of Employment:

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Records Check, Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check
- Must have a valid Class 5 full class Drivers' Licence
- Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including heavy lifting, pushing and pulling, crouching, and climbing
- Must be able to work around dust and chemicals, and in extreme weather conditions and noise levels
- Must be able to work overtime as required

Qualifications:
**Essential**:

- Experience at commercial facilities in the operation of equipment including grass mowers, tilling, gardening, snow removal and other related tools and machinery. A combination of related experience and training may be considered.
- Experience in snow and ice removal from roads, parking lots, sidewalks, roofs, building entrances and other areas as required.
- Experience in grounds maintenance including lawn care, trees and flower gardens.
- Knowledge of safe work practices, procedures and relevant safety policies.
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently and establish priorities.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, clients and the general public.

**Desired**:

- Experience conducting routine maintenance on equipment including oil changes, spark plugs, fluid levels and tire pressure.

**Duties**:
Under the general supervision of the Grounds Manager, the incumbent performs ground maintenance at the Legislative Grounds including Memorial Park, Government House and other owned properties in District One. The position will receive direction and instruction from the Grounds Maintenance 2 and Grounds Maintenance 3 positions with respect to grounds maintenance tasks.
