The Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst provides clinical supervision to clinicians on cases which require consultation for clinical intervention in particular, complex treatment protocols including intrusive behavioural intervention strategies. This position will also include a direct caseload through providing behaviour management services within an interdisciplinary framework to children and youth with autism spectrum disorders.
Services will include assessment, treatment and therapeutic programming, clinical consultation, program evaluation, training, education and research activities within a variety of settings throughout CHEO’s region of Eastern Ontario including homes, community settings and group homes. Travel, and evening and weekend work should be an expectation of the position.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Develop, monitor, and evaluate therapeutic treatment interventions utilizing evidence-based ABA practices.
- Assist staff with problem solving and decision making in regards to their individual caseloads requiring clinical supervision.
- Develop and provide formal staff training in dealing effectively with severe problem behaviour (i.e. aggression, self-injury, property destruction).
- Collaborate and coordinate care with multidisciplinary team members within CHEO
- Represent CHEO on internal and external clinical review committees as required in the area of behaviour practices and ABA.
- Mandatory clinical supervision of children and youth with intrusive behavioural intervention strategies in accordance with the Child and Family services act.
- Ensure that process for evidenced based practice is implemented in all areas of service delivery.
- Foster and maintain linkages with community agencies and educational organizations.
- Provide consultation services to individuals and groups such as: clients, relatives of clients, professional associations, agency staff, mental health workers, and involved medical providers.
- Participate in interdisciplinary teams, committees and task forces.
- Prepare and maintain formal documentation including assessment reports, treatment plans, program plans, guidelines, program review summaries, and discharge summaries.
- Maintain ongoing professional development.
- Adhere to the best practice model service delivery.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies and procedures related to privacy.
- Follow organizational policies and procedures related to safety, including reporting and follow-up for incidents/accidents and near misses, identification and management of risks and emergency procedures.
- Follow routine precautions for infection prevention and control including proper hand hygiene.
- Participate in education and improvement activities related to safety.
- Receive training in safe and effective use of equipment, ensures that any equipment used with client is clean and in proper working order, report any equipment in need of maintenance or repair.
- Educate clients and their families and helps them understand their role in promoting safety.
- Because of the changing nature of the job and the job requirements, duties and responsibilities may be added or deleted from time to time.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
- Master’s degree of Applied Disabilities Studies, Psychology or in a related field (Essential)
- Maintain good standing in certification with the credentialing body of the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board (BACB). (Essential)
- Meet all eligibility requirements for being a listed as a qualified provider on the Ontario Autism Program Provider list as of April 2021 or in the process of obtaining. (Essential)
- Five years recent related experience in a behavioural management consultant position or equivalent experience (e.g., five years recent experience in Applied Behaviour Analysis in community program for persons with a developmental delay). (Essential)
- Previous experience providing clinical supervision (Essential)
- Clinical skills that demonstrate competence in assessment with children, youths and their families. (Essential)
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching and mentoring skills. (Essential)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to receive and incorporate feedback. (Essential)
- Knowledge of community resources for children and youth with special needs. (Essential)
- Ability to provide services in a culturally sensitive environment. (Essential)
