**Job Overview**:
The Commissary Head Chef will be responsible for overseeing the team in the production of high-quality catering and pre-made food products. This is not a back-seat role We’re seeking an individual who is passionate about hands-on work, possesses an unyielding work ethic, and has the drive to ensure that our culinary offerings remain top-tier in the industry.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Team Leadership**: Lead, train, and manage the commissary team, ensuring that everyone is performing their tasks efficiently and maintaining the highest standards.
**Production Oversight**: Ensure timely and quality production of all catering and pre-made food products, including planning, preparation, cooking, and presentation.
**Menu Development**: Collaborate with the corporate culinary team to design and develop innovative recipes and menus that cater to diverse tastes and dietary requirements.
**Quality Control**: Uphold the highest standards in food quality and safety. Regularly inspect food items, ingredients, and final products to ensure they meet company standards and health regulations.
**Inventory Management**: Manage and track inventory, ensuring that the commissary kitchen is always stocked with fresh ingredients. Collaborate with suppliers and manage vendor relationships.
**Operational Efficiency**: Streamline processes to enhance production efficiency while ensuring that all food products are consistently of the highest quality.
**Safety Compliance**: Ensure that the kitchen operates in compliance with all health and safety regulations and that all staff follow safety protocols.
**Continuous Improvement**: Stay updated on the latest industry trends, techniques, and tools to ensure the commissary remains competitive and innovative.
**Key Requirements**:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or similar role, preferably in a commissary or large-scale catering environment.
- Culinary school diploma or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent time management abilities and multi-tasking skills.
- Proficiency in various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Familiarity with kitchen hygiene practices and occupational health and safety standards.
- Must be willing to take a hands-on approach to tasks and show initiative in improving processes.
