Join us for an opportunity to work in one of Canada’s finest First Nations art galleries. Our commercial gallery offers a creative, challenging and rewarding experience in the arts.

Overview:
Qualifications:

- Possess a flair for high-end retail sales with professional interpersonal skills is essential
- Previous office and/or administrative experience required (minimum 1 to 2 years)
- Self-reliant and capable of working independently
- Strong initiative, organizational and time management skills is mandatory
- Motivated achiever in sales and service
- Must feel comfortable in promoting art, services and exhibitions
- Excellent oral and written skills to communicate, correspond and support pre
- and post-sales transactions with clients
- A willingness to learn with a hands-on style, work as a team player, and take on new responsibilities as required
- Able to learn or have knowledge on how to handle and install delicate artwork in a precise and professional manner
- Goal oriented in achieving tasks, managing daily activities and meeting strict deadlines
- Resourceful and willing to pitch in on varied tasks as needed
- Computer knowledge: operating Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and Outlook Express is required
- Experience in maintaining a client database and/or web site is an asset
- Ability to work within a flexible weekly schedule
- To excel in this position, applicants must demonstrate the desire and dedication to achieve excellent results
- A strong interest or specific knowledge in Pacific Northwest Coast First Nations and Inuit art and culture is preferred
- Previous gallery experience is preferred
- A university or college degree or in pursuit of a post-secondary education in an associated field is an asset
- Preference given to applicants who are settled locally and willing to make a longer-term commitment to gallery

Description of Position:
Requires a mature, confident, dependable individual who will contribute enthusiastically and to take on key gallery responsibilities within a highly professional and intimate team environment

Professional handling of sales in person and online

Providing information and assistance to visitors and public inquiries

Flexibility in performing various day-to-day gallery operations: dealing with the public, displaying artwork, organizing and maintaining extensive jewelry collection, photography, developing and completing new projects, inventory management, assisting in organizing and executing tasks relevant to exhibitions

Assisting the shipping department in preparation of documentation and some packaging

Assisting in research, writing and development of information documenting artists and artwork

Assisting in the development and execution of exhibitions and/or special events

Database maintenance and prospecting clients

Web site inventory maintenance

Gallery maintenance and cleanliness
