**Role Description**:
The Technical Lead - Microsoft Modern Desktop, will leverage their experience, capabilities, and knowledge to support all project activities to successfully realize project goals/objectives. Work collaboratively and in partnership with the Microsoft Modern Desktop project team, the DMST Leaders, Desktop Application & Technologies, Technology Refresh (TRP), Planning & Delivery Leads/teams, as well as other key stakeholders (IMITS Tech Services, business/clinical representatives, site sponsors, NTT Data, Microsoft, Health Authority (HA) organizations - VCH, PHC, etc.) in respect to activities listed below.
**Responsibilities**:
- To understand & document technical requirements/considerations, risks, tools to support deployment activities, etc.
- Support the completion of detailed assessments (i.e., current state, device & site readiness, feasibility, risk, etc.) for Office 365 and Windows 11, with a focus on Windows 365 Cloud PC enablement (including work to support Citrix Cloud Service - i.e., Thin Client expansion).
- Support and provide expert technical knowledge and solutions to technical blockers.
- Note: to be discussed/validated with DMST & Tech Services technical SMEs & Technology Working Group (TWG) members.
- Liaise with (e.g., DMST SMEs, team members, etc.) to conduct research and testing; as well as document findings and recommendations.
- Develop solution & technical design documents, requirements analysis, use cases, process flows, procedures, and policies.
- Co-lead the design, development, and implementation/rollout plan for Office 365 and Windows 11, including framework and recommendations to support Microsoft Software as a Service (SaaS) model and/or Citrix Cloud Services (supporting expansion of Thin Clients across VPP).
- Contribute “as required” to the completion of an Access Database Management strategy to be leveraged to inform/align with and support the migration of Office 365, future OS upgrades, and Citrix Cloud Services re: Thin Client Expansion.
- Provide support and technical insight/recommendations to the development of an Office 365 and Windows 11/365 deployment strategy, approach, and plan (i.e., early adopters/pilot groups, shared devices, etc.) inclusive of and/all technical requirements; including a plan for the removal of existing Office versions (e.g., 2016, others).
- As required, support/provide technical recommendations for the development of future Business Case(s) and/or Briefing Notes to obtain any/all additional funding needed re: Windows 11, Windows 365 Cloud PC enablement, and/or Citrix Cloud Services implementation.
- Perform other project activities as directed by the Snr. Project Manager, as needed.
- Perform other duties and project activities as directed.
- Contribute to business/clinical engagement, DMST governance, Project Delivery Steering Committee (PDSC), and status meetings.
- Provide project status updates, address actions, and support/contribute to issues/risk management activities.
- Support delivery/completion of core activities (e.g. strategy, planning, schedule, reporting, and risk/issues) to ensure DMST and the project’s ability meet required timelines and deliverables, as well as issue escalation and resolution.
- Work cross-functionally to solve problems and implement changes.
- Work in collaboration with the DMST sustainment team to integrate and align planning, solutions, and readiness activities.
- Develop reports and technical assessment-related work within project schedule timelines.
- Creation of any/all supporting technical documentation, diagrams, workflows, etc.
- Design and establish an in-place upgrade strategy for Office 2016 to Office 365, and Windows 10 to Windows 11/365 (SaaS), taking into consideration, licensing, workflows, user impact plus other.
- Deployment rollout plan and removal of existing Office products to successfully support migration to Office 365, Windows11/365, and/or Citrix Cloud (Thin Clients).
- Submit deployment rings to NTT Data and ensure technical implementation occurs as designed; provide status updates/reports for leadership and site sponsors.
- Documented approach to tracking deployment rings, production stage rollout, others), including any support/knowledge materials needed.
- Support/resolution of issues/escalation as they rise; aligning with processes within DMST and/or other teams (IMITS, Tech Services) or Vendor Partners (NTT Data).
- Creation of key deliverables to support the transition to steady-state operations related to Office 365 and Windows 11/365 to ensure successful handover and ongoing support for future updates.
