Site Superintendent

We are currently seeking Site Superintendents for a full-time permanent position to join our team.

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Managing and maintaining a safe work site, ensuring that all requirements of the OH&S code are met and that all Canbian safety policies are followed
- Performing formal orientations to all new workers, visitors, and sub-trades and being an active participant in the mentorship and development of all Canbian workers
- Participating in conjunction with the Project Manager for cost-effective planning and scheduling for completion of the project and following a logical pattern for utilization for resources
- Interpretation of contract requirements and scopes of work, ensuring contractors are adhering to project requirements and specifications
- Review and interpretation of drawings and specifications
- Scheduling throughout the whole construction phase and developing, maintaining, and communicating to all involved parties, including subcontractors.
- Co-ordinating the work of sub-contractors working on various phases of the project and ensuring that all sub-contractors are complying with mandatory Canbian safety requirements
- Co-ordinating with sub-contractors to ensure all work is in compliance with the contract requirements, and Canbian quality standards
- Keeping a daily log of site activities on the project including but not limited to:

- All contractors and number of personnel, description of the work activities, weather, safety hazards or issues, schedule conflicts or delays
- Tracking inventory for tools and equipment and initiating requisitions for needed parts/repairs or materials
- Maintain accuracy for as built drawings for underground utilities and planning changes as they occur
- Participate in and lead on site meetings with clients, consultants, inspectors and sub contractors
- Complete RFI’s that are clear and concise when troubleshooting issues on site

**Qualifications**:

- Need at least 5+ years of applicable general contracting experience as a superintendent in the commercial construction industry
- High school diploma
- Applicable post secondary education or - a Journeyperson Certification, Red Seal is an asset
- Valid Driver's License and Vehicle
- This role requires a degree of Emotional intelligence, as you collaborate with various people, such as construction workers, architects, engineers and clientele
- Excellent leadership abilities, strong communication skills, and enthusiasm
- Superior organizational and critical thinking skills
- Professional manner, along with a commitment to the leadership role will ensure delivery of quality workmanship while keeping the project team motivated and engaged
- Experience in supervising and organizing small to midsize projects
- Solid understanding of modern construction practices, standards and materials
- The ability to read and interpret working drawings and shop drawings, and specifications
- A strong attention to detail, proven problem resolution skills and superior interpersonal skills are also required for this position
- Ability to work efficiently with a service-orientated attitude, courtesy, tact and diplomacy in stressful situations
- Ability to use Microsoft office programs and other programs such as Adobe, Bluebeam, Microsoft Projects and others
- Communication - display strong written and oral communication skills in English and employs effective listening skills.
- Prime Contractor, Leadership for Safety Excellence and Supervisor Training course training completion is preferred
- Principles of Health and Safety (preferred)
