The Payroll Specialist is responsible for completing tasks related to the processing of payroll, ensuring that employees are paid accurately and on-time, and that employment records are accurate. The Payroll Specialist will be a key member in the payroll implementation project.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Responsibilities can include the following:
**Payroll Processing**
- Payroll administration for multiple divisions in different provinces
- Processing weekly payrolls
- Collecting and following up on weekly time sheets submissions
- Help maintain the payroll inbox on a weekly basis
- Maintaining accurate electronic HR and Payroll records
- Reviewing time entry
**Employment Records**
- Setting up employees in Navision and Clarity payroll system
- Coordinating and following up with the HR Team on incomplete new hire paperwork
- Processing employee title changes, status changes, transfers, promotions and pay rate changes in NAV and Clarity
- Track vacation and sick time
- Creating and maintaining employee files, both paper and electronic
**Other**
- Assist payroll month-end and year-end duties including T-4’s and summaries
- Prepare ROE’s on line
- Print/compile reports when requested
- Assist staff in the completion of relevant forms
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education**:
- A graduate from post
- secondary institution in a related discipline or an equivalent combination training, education, and experience
- PCP - Payroll Compliance Practitioner in good standing
**Experience**:
- Minimum 4 years’ payroll processing experience
- Implementation experience is an asset
**Skills**:
- Strong excel and MS office skills required
- Professional and confidential
- Strong data entry and attention to detail
- Analytical skills
- Exceptional organization and time management skills
- Good English written and spoken communication skills
- Ability to multitask and to be flexible for changing priorities
- Ability to easily learn new software
- Accountable; able to work well independently and within a team
