**PRODUCTION TEAM LEAD POSITION**
**Position Overview**
The Production Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily plant operations, ensuring team adherence to safety and quality standards, supporting production efficiency, and providing frontline leadership to operators. This role bridges communication between management and frontline staff, helps drive continuous improvement, and plays a key part in building and maintaining a strong operational culture.
**Leadership & Team Development**
- Lead by example and ensure all team members follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and company policies.
- Act as a resource and mentor to operators by providing knowledge, motivation, feedback, and guidance.
- Foster teamwork and promote a supportive, inclusive working environment.
- Communicate regularly with Production Supervisors and assist in planning and executing operational improvements.
**Safety & Compliance**
- Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to all safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Conduct safety checks and routine inspections of equipment and work areas before and after each shift.
- Report and document all near misses, incidents, or safety concerns.
- Monitor daily activities for safety risks and escalate concerns appropriately.
**Quality Assurance & Process Control**
- Ensure all production activities meet internal and external quality assurance standards, including CFIA/USDA regulations and customer specifications.
- Understand and help implement quality programs such as HACCP and FSMA (training provided).
- Identify, report, and help resolve quality deficiencies, collaborating with team members to drive improvement.
- Monitor and enforce adherence to shift production schedules and KPI targets.
- Evaluate production reports and metrics and collaborate with operators to improve yields and reduce waste.
**Production Operations**
- Monitor production processes and identify inefficiencies or deviations from the standard process.
- Actively participate in shift meetings, providing updates and ensuring alignment across shifts.
- Ensure consistency and effectiveness of CIP (Clean-In-Place) and sanitation standards.
- Be actively involved in troubleshooting equipment or process-related issues with relevant departments.
**Coordination & Communication**
- Liaise with internal departments (QA, Maintenance, Logistics) and external contacts including Bess Transport, slaughterhouses, and service providers for timely deliveries, trailer coordination, and plant support.
- Ensure proper documentation and communication across departments and shifts for process continuity.
**Administrative & Reporting Duties**
- Complete daily shift reports and document production performance.
- Use software tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and other internal systems.
- Assist in scheduling, attendance tracking, and performance evaluations.
- Participate in training coordination and onboarding of new operators.
**Work Environment & Physical Requirements**
- Must be physically able to walk, stand, kneel, climb stairs/platforms, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work is performed in a production environment where exposure to powder, smoke, and chemical substances may occur.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays, is required.
- Must be in good physical health and free from conditions that may be aggravated by production environment exposure.

**Education & Experience**
- High school diploma or equivalent technical diploma (post-secondary in a related field is an asset).
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or food production environment.
- Prior team leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with HACCP, CFIA, USDA, or similar standards is an asset.
