Grand River Transit (GRT) provides transit service to the three cities, and four townships in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo. We operate more than 50 routes and cover more than 20 million kilometers every year. **The Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Manager, Finance & Administration (Transit Services) this opportunity would be well suited for a collaborative individual who has a passion for health and wellness. As the Administrator, Attendance Management (Transit Services) you will be responsible for administering the attendance system and the Absenteeism Management Program (AMP) for UNIFOR 4304 employees. You will also oversee the compliance and release of transit/rapid transit vehicle and station camera surveillance. In addition, you will be an active participant on our wellness committee.
- Supervises a Division Assistant (Transit Services).
- You will coordinate meetings for HR and divisional case reviews (e.g., books rooms, schedules participants, compiles and follows up on information). You will prepare/draft letters to employees and external stakeholders.
- You will assess the need for the use of an external investigation company, in collaboration with management. Coordinate with investigation company regarding surveillance relating to attendance performance issues and potential benefits fraud.
- You will run attendance reports using attendance management systems. Assess and identify attendance issues. Calculate the Division’s absenteeism thresholds per AMP criteria.
- You will participate in the development of key performance indicators to track and monitor the effectiveness of AMP. Research best practices in attendance management.
- You will collaborate with divisional management and HR to manage absenteeism. Provide guidance and resources to employees and management to improve attendance. Communicate changes and support management regarding attendance management.
- You will coordinate/participate in meetings with management, employees, and union representatives regarding attendance records.
- You will develop, recommend, and update program procedures, policies, and systems.
- You will oversee and coordinate requests for surveillance video recordings on transit and light rail vehicles and stations from third parties (e.g., police, insurance). Tracks, arranges approvals, copies video, obtains signatures, and files paperwork.
- You will coordinate data collection and release of information to Risk Management relating to the defense and settlement of claims (e.g., employee files, video, training material, vehicle reports). Review AMP data before release to staff and external organizations.
- You will coordinate training needs; set up training in systems as required.
- You will represent the Division on corporate privacy working groups.
- You will oversee access, retention, disposal, and destruction of saved vehicle surveillance per privacy and related camera policies.
- Has a P-card. Has signing authority for office supplies and related program purchases.
- Perform related duties as required.
- The requirements for this position would normally be acquired through having knowledge of administrative procedures, word processing, organizational and human relations skills, and basic labour relations knowledge, normally acquired through a related post-secondary education (e.g., Business Administration, Human Resources) plus progressively responsible related experience.
