**Job Synopsis**
The Program Assistant will provide critical support to the Raw Carrot Site Manager, ensuring the smooth operation of kitchen activities, volunteer coordination, sales events, and community outreach efforts. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent organizational skills, a passion for social enterprise, and the ability to support the work of staff on the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP).
This role would be approximately 15 hours weekly, supporting the cooking days of Mondays and Wednesdays.
This position contributes directly to the mission of the Raw Carrot Soup Enterprise by helping individuals with barriers to employment engage in meaningful work and supporting outreach efforts through soup sales and events.

**Qualifications**
Required
- Commitment to MCC's mission, vision, and values, including a personal Christian faith and participation in a local faith community.
- 1-2 years of experience in community outreach, food service, or volunteer coordination
- Basic cooking skills and a willingness to learn new kitchen processes.
- Willingness to complete Food Safety Certification and Basic First Aid Certification (company paid)
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with a passion for supporting individuals facing barriers to employment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Adaptability to manage competing priorities and work in a dynamic environment.
- Experience or knowledge of the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) and working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is considered an asset.
- Excellent skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, and social media platforms. Working knowledge of QuickBooks, database management, and Square POS
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend events.
- Valid ‘G’ Ontario driver’s license
- Criminal records check (required upon hire)
- Legally able to work in Canada.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Kitchen Operations Support**
- Assist with ingredient preparation, cooking, packaging, and cooling processes according to stated quality standards
- Help maintain kitchen cleanliness, organization, and safety according to health regulations
- Track inventory and notify the manager when supplies are needed
- Support the implementation of weekly cooking schedules
- Lead the kitchen operations in the absence of the Site Manager
**Volunteer Coordination & Staff Support**
- Support the Site Manager to coordinate the schedule and tasks for volunteers, ensuring proper orientation and support
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for volunteers and staff
- Provide practical assistance to staff and volunteers as needed during kitchen shifts
- Help onboard and support social work students during their internships
**Sales, Marketing, and Community Engagement**
- Attend local markets, vendor shows and public events to assist with soup sales and promotions, as needed
- Contribute to marketing activities such as social media posts, flyers, and event planning
**Administration and Reporting**
- Assist with record-keeping related to kitchen operations, sales, and volunteer hours
- Help monitor cash flow by recording transactions and providing reports to the site manager
- Support the preparation of reports for MCC Ontario, the Raw Carrot Hub, and other stakeholders
**Health and Safety Commitment**
- Actively maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following all workplace health and safety procedures
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including safe handling, storage, and preparation of ingredients
- Monitor kitchen operations for potential risks and promptly report hazards to the site manager
- Promote a culture of safety and well-being among staff and volunteers by encouraging adherence to safety practices and procedures
**Other**
- Perform other job related duties as assigned
- Participate in MCCO orientations, provincial meetings, Peace Conference and Staff Development Day
- Participate in a local faith community, being willing to use personal gifts within this community and model nonviolent peacemaking through respectful interaction with others
- Maintain a high level of integrity, reflecting Christian respect and Christ's unconditional love to those with whom you work, including colleagues, partner agencies, the homeless and marginalized
