**Community Programs Educator (Full-Time)**

Are you passionate about education, community engagement, and animal welfare? The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth is seeking a Community Programs Educator to help inspire children, youth, and adults through meaningful learning experiences that promote compassion and responsible pet ownership.

Reporting to the Manager, Community Engagement & Outreach (or designate), the Community Programs Educator will be responsible for developing and delivering educational programs across a variety of settings — including schools, community centers, day camps, and in-house programs such as PD Days, birthday parties, and field trips.

This full-time role offers between 32 to 40 hours per week, with flexibility required to support programming during weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys public speaking, and is passionate about making a difference through education and outreach.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Developing and delivering engaging educational programs and presentations
- Building relationships with schools and community organizations
- Leading in-center programs including camps, PD Days, and birthday parties
- Researching and implementing new educational opportunities for diverse audiences
- Representing the Humane Society at community events
- Fulfilling administrative tasks and create teaching resources
- Advocating for the Humane Society’s mission in interactions with students, parents, and educators

**Qualifications & Requirements**:

- Post-secondary education in education, recreation, leadership, or a related field (preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with children in a teaching or leadership capacity (preferred)
- Knowledge of animal welfare issues (preferred)
- Strong classroom management and public speaking skills
- Comfortable educating and working with various age groups
- Comfortable handling and working with a variety of animals
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher)
- **Have or access to a pet suitable** for school visitations *Your pet will attend presentations with you and must pass a behavior assessment conducted by our Animal Care Team*
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Satisfactory police vulnerable sector check required

**Working Conditions**:

- Traveling to schools and community venues for presentations.
- This position requires working a variety of shifts including, weekdays, evenings, weekend and statutory holidays.
- Frequent community interaction, including occasional public speaking.
- Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, lifting and supporting animals.Participation in internal and external events representing the Humane Society
- Standing for extended periods of time while delivering presentations and leading programs.
