The Accounts Payables Specialist will report to the Accounting Manager and will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices. This position will be an in-office role; and, the successful incumbent will be a self-motivated, deadline driven professional, dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service to internal departments.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Process accounting transactions and invoices with accurate GL coding on a timely basis
- Maintain alphabetical vendor invoice/payment files
- Assist with determination of cash needs and scheduling of vendor payments
- Establish positive vendor relationships and respond to vendor inquiries
- Perform monthly reconciliation of bank statements
- Track pre-authorized payment transactions and lease payment schedules
- Reconcile statements of accounts to the ERP system to ensure accuracy
- Review, verify and post accounts payable invoices to the ERP system
- Process expense reports
- Post journal entries, as required
- Pay vendors by monitoring discount opportunities
- Schedules and prepares payments via: cheque, EFT, ACH and other as required
- Resolve purchase orders, contracts, invoices and payment discrepancies
- Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
- Identify areas of process improvements
- Complete other tasks and projects, as requested.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education / Experience / Knowledge**
- College diploma or University degree in accounting, business or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in accounts payable
- Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Working knowledge of ERP software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail with high level of accuracy and able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
