Accounts Payable Specialist

Richmond Hill, Canada Lullaboo Nursery and Childcare Center Full time

In this role, you will be responsible for the full accounts payable cycle including the processing vendor invoices, issuing payments, reconciling corporate credit cards and responding to accounts payable inquiries in a multi-entity environment. Your strong organization skills and attention to detail will ensure AP transactions are completed timely and accurately with respect to established deadlines.

Job description:
- Perform day-to-day and month-end accounting activities
- Review/verify all invoices for accuracy, appropriate supporting documentation, and approvals (3-way matching)
- Accurately record vendor invoices and prepare electronic payments
- Record and reconcile corporate credit cards
- Reconcile accounts payable transactions and vendor statements
- Record monthly accruals and journal entries
- Record intercompany transactions
- Ensure sales taxes are accounted for correctly
- Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
- Work closely with departments to promptly obtain invoice approvals and resolve outstanding AP issues
- Understand Chart of Accounts and code expenses to proper categories
- Support and back-fill other finance functions within the finance team as required
- Assemble information for external auditors for the annual audit
- Maintain offsite/onsite storage and records management
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements
- Comply with internal controls and company policies and procedures and maintain confidentiality
- Ad hoc projects as assigned

Qualifications:
- Experience working in a Finance department, specifically working in Accounts Payable
- Experience in processing full-cycle accounts payable with high volume
- Experience using an ERP system (NetSuite experience is an asset)
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in accounting or related discipline
- Well-organized and detail-oriented
- Proven ability to work well in a team
