Supervisor of Sales and Acquisitions

Under the general direction of the Real Estate Administrator, the Supervisor of Sales and Acquisitions is responsible for the development and implementation of programs for the disposal and purchase of real property assets. The Supervisor will directly assist, advise and train staff to complete a variety of real estate transactions. This position is also responsible for the design, implementation, review and revision of processes and policies to meet both the Branch and Division’s mandate and responsibilities. The Supervisor also provides services in support of Departmental and Corporate programs and initiatives.
**As the Supervisor of Sales and Acquisitions, you will**:
- Review product output generated by staff to ensure it meets all relevant City policies, produces, directives and practices.
- Manage and lead transactions of complex or politically sensitive sales or acquisitions; responding to inquiries and communications on said transactions.
- Design performance measures and alternate enhanced policies; implement same, monitor workload and flow; coordinate activities; negotiate project requirements and deadlines.
- Select, train and coach staff to enhance knowledge and further professional development.
- Direct staff to undertake the sale of surplus City-owned real property and acquisition of private real property.
**Your education and qualifications include**:
- Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, Urban Land Economics or related field AND one of the following Designations - Fellow of the Real Estate Institute (FRI), Canadian Residential Appraiser (CRA), Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI), Senior Right-of-Way Professional (SR/WA), Real Property Administrator (RPA), Certified Commercial Investment Manager (CCIM).
- Four (4) years’ experience in marketing, negotiating, and closing sales and acquisitions in at least one of the following areas: residential, commercial or industrial real estate.
- Experience in a leadership role including mentoring and training to junior staff.
- Experience providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior leaders and officials.
- Experience preparing and providing evidence in a legal setting or in front of government officials is considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team and establish and maintain collaborative work relationships with staff, senior leaders, officials and stakeholders.
- Effective organizational skills to assign and manage work flow in order to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop recommendations with a full consideration of various alternatives.
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills.
- Highly developed written communication skills including the ability to write complex and confidential reports and documents for senior leaders and officials.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information in a clear and concise manner to senior leaders and officials.
- Ability to use computers and data bases to support the Division’s services.
- Ability to work in a demanding work environment and maintain composure in stressful situations.
- Knowledge of the City of Winnipeg Charter and the Expropriation Act is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of appraisal practices.
**Conditions of employment**:
- The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License. The successful applicant will be required to provide a driver’s notice in force document upon request.
