Entrepreneurial Engagement Manager

The Council for Advancement of African Canadians in Alberta, operating as Africa Centre, is the largest pan African organization in western Canada, serving as a community hub that provides programs and services from a place of cultural awareness and competency to the families in our diverse community.
We are currently seeking an **Entrepreneurial Engagement Manager** to assist entrepreneurs in accessing business funding and developing and implementing their business plan(s). This position will act as an “account manager” and manage client performance through the various stages of entrepreneurial development. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager, Entrepreneurship Empowerment Program.
**Key Roles & Responsibilities**
Client Relationships
- Participation in regional and provincial business meetings and/or associations
- Promote business development in the Black community in their respective geographical coverage
- Travel to regional client groups to deliver presentations and workshops
- Meet with clients and prospective clients;
- Develop business relations with strategic partners (e.g., banks, government agencies, etc.)
- Represent Africa Centre at social functions in the community as its ambassador
- Identify and recommend entrepreneurial training as required
Client Account Management
- Assist clients in the refinement of business ideas through research and assist with access to government resources
- Development of business plans, from ideation to execution
- Advise potential clients on the funding requirements corresponding to their needs
- Ensure credit policies and procedures are followed according to established guidelines and applicable legislation
- Manage ongoing performance and provide counseling, coaching or continuing advice to clients as required
- Prepare, maintain, and circulate monthly and/or quarterly financial progress reports outlining status of current client base
**Education & Experience**
- University degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Commerce or equivalent
- At least three (3) years’ experience within the financial, commercial lending industry, or government sectors
- A valid driver’s license with ability to travel throughout the province as required
- Understanding of budgeting and financial progress reporting
- Familiarity with Black community and/or willingness to appreciate, understand, and regularly engage with the Black community
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office
- French fluency (ability to speak, read and write) would be a definite asset

**Salary**: $60,000 - $70,000 per year
