As a key driver of VFS’s talent strategy, you’ll lead innovative recruitment efforts that attract and secure the industry’s best. Your work will extend beyond hiring—you will build out and facilitate our recruitment strategy across the school. This will include retention and succession plans that ensure our team members grow and flourish in an environment that fosters creativity and excellence.

Your role will also involve the careful management of HR administration. From drafting and refining employment contracts to ensuring policies are current and compliant, you’ll maintain the highest standards of clarity and professionalism. You’ll oversee seamless onboarding experiences that set new hires up for success and handle offboarding with the respect and care that honors each individual’s contributions.

Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. In partnership with the Director of People & Culture, you’ll address personnel matters, champion employee relations initiatives, and uphold rigorous compliance with employment laws and workplace safety standards.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Recruitment, Retention, and Succession Planning**:
**Strategic Talent Acquisition**:

- Design and execute innovative internal and external recruitment strategies that align with VFS’s vision and goals.
- Partner with department heads to anticipate staffing needs, ensuring a steady pipeline of talent through both internal mobility and external recruitment efforts.

**Retention and Succession Planning**:

- Develop and implement proactive retention strategies aimed at fostering a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
- Work closely with managers to identify high-potential employees and create robust succession plans to ensure leadership continuity.

**HR Administration and Policy Management**:
**Contract and Policy Development**:

- Draft, review, and refine employment contracts, ensuring clarity and compliance with VFS policies and legal requirements.
- Create and update HR policies as needed, aligning them with evolving legislation changes and organizational goals.
- Support compensation decisions by reviewing salary offers, hourly wage proposals, and conducting negotiations when necessary.

**Onboarding and Offboarding**:

- Facilitate smooth transitions for new hires by overseeing the onboarding process, ensuring they feel welcomed and prepared to succeed.
- Oversee the offboarding process with care and professionalism, and that all exit procedures are conducted smoothly and respectfully.
- Facilitate onboarding and welcome events that provide drop-in assistance to new faculty and staff

**Employee Relations and Compliance**:
**Collaboration with the Director of People & Culture**:

- Assist in resolving personnel issues, including sensitive matters related to performance management and conflict resolution.
- Provide support in implementing employee relations programs that promote harmony and mutual respect within the workplace.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Bachelor’s degree, certificate, or relevant experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- HR experience, particularly in recruitment and employee relations.
- Strong understanding of employment law, ESA, and WorkSafeBC regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with care and discretion.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems, Dayforce, and Microsoft Office
