Job Description Summary

The Arts Co-op Program offers students practical learning for personal and professional growth, by working with diverse industry and community partners to provide transformative workplace learning experiences.

The Manager, Business Development, is responsible for implementing and executing business development initiatives for the Arts Co-op Program. One of the main goals is to promote the University and its Arts Co-op students to prospective local, national and international employers. This role is crucial in generating new leads for the Program to meet the diversity of students' interests as our student body spans 5 undergraduate degrees and graduate programs in the UBC School of Information, Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs, and select Master of Arts and PhD disciplines. Tasks include establishing a sustainable framework to target new employers across public, private, and non-profit sectors, making cold-calls and follow up calls to potential employers, identifying job leads and securing job opportunities suitable for the program, leveraging alumni relationships for job development, increasing program awareness among private and public employers, performing market research and analysis, and attending relevant career fairs and coordinating program display booths.

Organizational Status
Reports to the Manager, Marketing and Industry Relations. The Manager, Business Development, is primarily responsible for generating co-op job opportunities for the program and will be working closely with undergraduate Co-op Career Educators and graduate Co-op Managers.

Work Performed- Develops and implements strategies to market the program to Canadian and international employers; meets weekly and monthly targets for prospective and existing employer outreach- Conducts market analysis on growth industries, geographic regions and hiring trends, identifies new employment opportunities for Arts Co-op students and works to increase the Arts Co-op placement across a range of academic disciplines, focusing primarily on the undergraduate program but providing support to graduate Co-op Managers in new job development periodically- Researches and establishes connections with local, national and international companies within relevant industries (i.e., Technology, Banking and Finance, Government, Professional Services, Public Health, Education, and other industries as identified by the Co-op Career Educators, Manager of Marketing and Industry Relations, and/or the Associate Director of the program) with a goal to increase job postings to match the growing needs of the Arts Co-op student body- Implements and executes an effective workflow and process to efficiently outreach to new contacts on a continuous basis- Provides service and assistance to employers in the recruitment process, such as addressing questions related to student availability, postings, and job offers- Prepares short
