**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**
- Provide strong leadership while managing the Accounting/Billing Team
- Monitor and manage team performance by providing ongoing coaching and formal reviews (including bi-weekly One-on-one (O3) meetings
- Participate in all departmental recruitment activities
- Provide direction and coaching on billing issues and processes
- Ensure each team members' processes and procedures are optimized for the benefit of the entire department and alignment to company's strategic direction
- Identify and implement betterments to the billing system and processes to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the department
- Liaise with IT on programming changes to the receivables and payables modules of Insurance and accounting systems. In addition, coordinate with team to perform user acceptance testing (UAT) for all changes to ensure integrity of information
- Assign and distribute workload amongst the team ensuring work equity
- Ensure calls from brokers and policy holders are being handled promptly and professionally maintaining lasting relationships
- Respond to and resolve billing disputes with a variety of internal and external customers and stakeholders
- Ensure payables are effectively distributed and entered for payment by team member
- Manage the payables function as a _'last line of defense'_ to ensure transactions are recorded accurately, appropriately and are within the guidelines of the company's expense policy
- Responsible for the maintenance of the company's master vendor file
- Ensure each team member has adequate time to complete SMART goals as planned and providing opportunities for personal growth improvements of their skill set and complete their annual performance evaluations
- Liaise with company banking representative on banking matters
- Manage staff scheduling and vacation time

**Required Qualifications**
- 5 + years experience in a related role
- Experience managing and leading a team of 5+ employees
- Insurance accounting or billing experience preferred
- Strong leadership skills
- Exceptional ability to build and maintain productive relationships both with internal and external customers
- Fluent with the Microsoft suite of programs, including advanced knowledge of MS Excel
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to deliver feedback with tact and diplomacy
- Innovative, forward thinker able to manage multiple priorities
- Strong analytical, problem solving skills, and confidence in decision making
