**Patient / Scheduling Coordinator**

Maples Surgical Centre, a division of Clearpoint Health Network, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is recruiting for the** full-time position of Patient/Scheduling Coordinator.**

**Position Summary**

The Patient / Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for responding to all surgery patients enquires and referrals and delivers high value, confidential customer service throughout the patient experience with Maples Surgical Centre.

The Patient Coordinator is sensitive to the unique needs of each patient and gains their trust and confidence by responding to questions and concerns regarding procedures, pre-operative care, logistics planning and other issues that may arise.

This position coordinates the required patient screening to assist the clinical team make decisions concerning surgical suitability based on the facility requirements. This position also ensures that all required assessments and paperwork is received on time and that information is properly communicated to the patient and the clinical team.

The work schedule is mostly but not limited to regular business hours and there may be a need to communicate with patients and clinical staff outside of regular business hours.

**Scheduling Responsibilities**:

- Completes the scheduling process by coordinating nursing and anesthesiologist’ availability
- Communicates with staff, nursing and anesthesia to assure scheduling system is accurate
- Completes schedule in a timely manner
- Receives calls and/or requests from staff and nurses regarding absences and leaves of absence; assigns staff in accordance with applicable roster and company policy
- contacts staff regarding the initiation or changes in schedules; documents cancellations, amends schedules, monitors and adjusts schedules to maintain slate requirements
- Orientates new office staff to scheduling procedures and forms, as required
- Performs other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Medical terminology required
- Minimum of 3 years related experience in a healthcare setting or 3 years progressive secretarial experience in healthcare
- Previous experience in a surgical ambulatory care or acute care setting and/or a scheduling position preferred
- Experience in Shiftboard an asset
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others

**Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Manitoba Human Rights Code.**
