**Job Posting: Removal Site Foreman**
**About Renewal Development**
Renewal Development is a fast-growing, innovative Vancouver-based residential construction company proving the possibilities of sustainable development.
We rescue, relocate, retrofit, and repurpose good homes from growing urban areas to non-urban communities in need of high-quality, cost-effective, climate-resilient housing.
To replicate and scale this model we have integrated four internal divisions: sustainable demolition, building lifting and relocation, home renovation, and home repurposing.
We act as a general contractor providing one streamlined service. Our mission is to maximize the preservation of good homes and good building materials while enabling a paradigm shift towards a more sustainable future.
**The Opportunity**
The Site Foreman is a critical field leadership role responsible for overseeing on-site demolition, abatement, and deconstruction activities while also performing hands-on excavator and other equipment operation.
This is a dual role requiring both supervisory capability and strong equipment-operation skills. You will coordinate site crews, ensure safety and compliance, operate heavy equipment, and maintain high-quality site execution from start to finish.
You will work closely with the Renewal Removal Project Manager to deliver safe, efficient, well-organized job sites that align with project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Site Leadership & Coordination**_
- Lead daily site operations for demolition, abatement, and deconstruction projects.
- Provide direction to labourers, subcontractors, and equipment operators.
- Conduct daily briefings, allocate tasks and resources, and maintain productivity and workflow.
- Maintain strong communication with the Project Manager regarding progress, risks, and needs.
- Ensure the site remains clean, organized, and compliant with all safety and environmental standards.
- **Demolition, Abatement & Excavator Operation**_
- Perform hands-on operation of excavators and related heavy equipment.
- Execute structural demolition, selective deconstruction, and material separation, sorting, and storage.
- Supervise and participate in hazardous materials abatement (asbestos, lead, etc.).
- Ensure all demolition and abatement work complies with WorkSafeBC regulations and environmental requirements.
- Read and interpret drawings, demolition scopes, and engineered plans.
- **Safety & Compliance**_
- Champion a safety-first culture and lead by example in all on-site activities.
- Conduct hazard assessments, toolbox talks, and enforce OH&S compliance.
- Ensure all crew members follow safe work procedures, PPE protocols, and regulatory standards.
- Report incidents, near misses, and safety concerns promptly and accurately.
- **Project Execution & Quality**_
- Track progress against schedule and escalate delays or site issues to the Project Manager.
- Ensure demolition and abatement scopes are completed to the highest quality and regulatory standards.
- Support material salvage, sorting, and reuse activities where applicable.
- Manage equipment use, maintenance checks, and operational readiness.
- **Logistics & Site Administration**_
- Coordinate deliveries, waste bins, trucking, and equipment mobilization.
- Maintain on-site documentation including safety records, sign-in sheets, and progress reports.
- Monitor material quantities, disposal needs, and inventory of tools and supplies.
**Qualifications & Skills**
- **Required**_
- 5+ years of demolition experience, including hands-on work in structural and selective demolition.
- Proven abatement experience with a full understanding of hazardous materials processes and WorkSafeBC compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to operate multiple types of excavation machines confidently and safely (minimum 3+ years).
- Experience supervising small site crews or acting as a lead hand/foreman.
- Strong understanding of demolition processes, scopes, site sequencing, equipment use, and safe demolition practices.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable transportation.
- **Preferred**_
- Certificates in Asbestos Abatement, Hazardous Materials Handling, or similar.
- Occupational First Aid Level 1/BFA or higher.
- Experience in deconstruction, building relocation, or material salvage.
