The John M. Thompson Centre for Engineering Leadership and Innovation (CELI) is one of six academic units in the Faculty of Engineering. The John M. Thompson Centre for Engineering Leadership and Innovation focuses on the development of non-technical skills in the Engineering community. **Responsibilities**:
The ES 1050 Prototyping Shop Assistant will be responsible for supporting students in their ES1050 labs, with designing and implementing simple electronics into their designs as necessary. The incumbent will work varied hours, including envenings as necessary to support the students.

Accountabilities:

- Maintain a safe working and prototyping environment.
- Aid students in reviewing designs, suggesting ways to improve manufacturability or performance outcomes.
- Aid students to effectively and efficiently realise (build themselves) prototypes of their designs.

**Qualifications**:
.Education:

- Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or upper year engineering students

**Experience**:

- Extensive experience in prototyping shop context and shop safety

Preferred
- Electronics experience combined with wood shop prototyping skills

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

- Experience in a shop environment and familiarity with shop safety guidelines
- Familiarity with experimental design and analysis
- Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
- Ability to follow processes with high attention to detail
- Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work
- Computer skills with the ability to learn and use software programs
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
- Ability to collect and analyze data in an objective manner
- Demonstrated ability to understand and resolve issues
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
