Reporting to the Sr. Director, Human Resources, the **Human Resources Generalist** is responsible for a wide variety of human resources functions including recruitment, orientation and onboarding of new hires, payroll & benefit support, non-occupational disability management, general HR administration, and support to all store locations and home office.
**Responsibilities**:
- Support day-to-day HR and Payroll operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and employment legislation
- Primary lead of full-cycle recruitment including job postings, screening, interviewing, background checks and onboarding
- Provide guidance and support to employees on HR policies, procedures, and employment standards
- Manages all disability claims and related policies and procedures
- Guide employee relations issues, conducting investigations as needed and recommends appropriate actions
- Support Payroll and Benefits initiatives as needed including payroll processing
- Support HR plans such as performance management processes, training and development, employee engagement, compensation, and HR projects.
- Prepare, track and report on HR metrics including talent acquisition, turnover and demographics to ensure alignment with organizational goals
- Ensures all mandatory training is completed (AODA, H&S, WHMIS etc.). Creates process for annual training where required by legislation
- Assist with regular research with compliance initiatives and updates policies and procedures as required
- Complete other duties and projects as required
**Requirements**:
- 5 years’ progressive Human Resources Generalist experience preferably in a retail industry environment
- Post-Secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, CHRP/CHRL designation required
- Experience in full-cycle recruitment
- Thorough knowledge of all related employment legislations (Human Rights Act, Employment Standards, and Occupational Health & Safety Act)
- High level of personal and professional integrity with demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality
- Committed to provide exceptional quality customer focused service
- Strong and clear verbal and written communication skills
- Solid organizational skills, detail oriented and ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
- A team player that is accountable and has a results driven attitude
- Self-motivated, resourceful and able to work independently
