**Resource Development Coordinator**

The First Nations of Northern Manitoba Child and Family Services Authority (Northern Authority) is responsible for administering and providing for the delivery of child and family services (CFS) to twenty-seven First Nation communities through seven mandated First Nations CFS agencies.
**Responsibilities**:
Under the supervision and direction of the Resource Development & Training Manager, Resources & Policy Development Coordinator’s primary focus is to provide consultation, advice, and support to the Resource program in member agencies. Resources & Policy Development Coordinator works within the Authority to provide consultation and support to the child welfare agencies to develop resource and alternative care settings for children in care. The Coordinator will act as a liaison between the child welfare system and agencies in areas of resource development and alternative care. The overall goal is to increase the number of resources for children in care and implement initiatives to reduce hotel usage by children in care.
Performs organizational and administrative duties as related to the role of Foster Care Coordinator such as:
- Compiles and maintains emergency placement resource lists to include child’s personal information, agency information and placement information.
- Maintain statistics regarding the number, location, and specific skills of alternative home settings across the North.
- Compiles and maintains agency hotel stats to the child protection branch as per provincial reporting requirement. Coordinates a listing of placement (weekly or monthly).
- Assists with Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) requests in compiling agency statistical information such as number of family cases, case ratio of front-line workers and places of safety checks completion.
- Assists Northern Authority staff in requests for statistical information from agencies for purposes of policy and program development and advocacy.
- Provides statistical reports as required, including:
- Co-ordinates all Northern Authority EPR statistics onto a master document that is provided to the Child Protection Branch on a weekly basis.
- Develops reports providing statistical overview and trends regarding EPR usage policy, as required by the Northern Authority Management Team.
Qualifications:
- BSW with 5+ years experience within a child welfare environment. A related post secondary degree with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- 3 - 5 years of experience working with Aboriginal Child and Family Services and extensive knowledge of First Nation communities and languages
- Excellent understanding of _The Child and Family Services Act_ and _The Child and Family Services Authorities Act_ as well as provincial CFS standards.
- Must be a collaborative, flexible team player who is challenged by working in a fast-paced environment.
- Superior problem-solving skills and capacity to work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (written & verbal) are essential.
- Ability to speak Cree, Dene and/or Oji-Cree is a definite asset.
**Conditions of Employment**:
- Provide a satisfactory criminal records check, child abuse registry check and prior contact check prior to commencing employment.
- Valid Manitoba Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle.
- Travel to northern Manitoba communities may be required
**Asset**:
- Working knowledge of northern First Nation communities.
- Ability to speak Cree, Dene and/or Oji-Cree.
