People Operations Generalist

DescriptionAs a
**People Operations Generalist** at Photonic, you will be accountable for a diverse set of responsibilities across all areas of the People & Culture function, while supporting the successful delivery of initiatives and projects that align with Photonic's core values and corporate goals. From recruitment to onboarding new talent to maintaining documentation to running reports, you play an important role in the smooth running of People operations.

WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO
**Employee Relations**
- Manage, organize and conduct our new employee onboarding process, including preparing onboarding materials, delivering P&C orientation sessions, and scheduling training sessions
- Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture by organizing team-building activities and initiatives
- Coordinate with Payroll, IT, and IP teams to ensure employee offboarding process is compliant
- Act as a first point of contact for employees, addressing questions, concerns, and providing guidance on HR policies and procedures

**HR Compliance**
- Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as supporting our international team members
- Write HR policies and handbooks
- Maintain HR records and documentation, including files, employee handbooks, internal communications channels & tools
- Ongoing maintenance and updating of HR policies to ensure we are up to date with latest regulations

**Compensation & Benefits**
- Administer benefits programs for our Canadian and international employees
- Assist in the management of compensation and salary review processes

**Systems and Process**
- Define and document best People operations processes
- Maintain and be the first point of contact for all HR tools inquiries, including HiBob, Remote, and Pinpoint
- Research and recommend new tools to support the smooth running of People operations

**Data Analytics and Reporting**
- Compile HR metrics and reports
- Use data to identify trends and areas for improvement within the organization
- Constantly evaluate and optimize people processes, from onboarding, and offboarding, to feedback management

**Talent Acquisition**
- Collaborate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and develop job descriptions
- Support the full recruitment cycle, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding new employees

WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR TEAM
- Post-secondary education in human resources, business administration, or related field, or a combination of education, training, and experience. (Bonus point if you're CPHR, SHRM, or CPID certified)
- 5+ years of progressive experience in People Operations roles, preferably in a tech startup environment
- Knowledge of Canadian employment laws and regulations. (Bonus points if you are familiar with US or UK employment laws and regulations, too)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
- Proficiency in HRIS software (we use HiBob, Remote, Pinpoint)
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Bonus points if you are proficient in graphic design tools likes Canva or Adobe Create Suite
