**Opportunity**:
MacEwan University is seeking a Government Affairs Analyst for a full-time continuing opportunity with our Government Affairs department. Reporting to the Director, Government Relations, you will conduct environmental scanning and gather intelligence in support of the team’s provincial, municipal, and federal engagement, and help inform planning and development of summary documents and correspondence, while maintaining databases. This role also supports the Community Relations team with similar functions.

Key responsibilities include:

- Conducting environmental scanning of government and industry sources and analyzing and distributing information to support situational awareness;
- Reviewing, analyzing and tracking government policies and positions to determine impacts to the post-secondary system and MacEwan, which includes federal and provincial legislation and regulations, and municipal bylaws;
- Collaborating internally with other departments and externally with key stakeholders and government bodies to collect information and intelligence to frame and inform positions;
- Synthesizing information collected to identify key issues and provide recommendations;
- Developing systems to maintain and track the data, conduct analysis, and communicate;
- Preparing and communicating reports;
- Providing metrics and conducting trend analysis to inform decision-making and engagement strategies;
- Assisting with research and policy analysis through examinations of the community, industry, and not-for-profit sectors;
- Tracking engagement and contact points through the PoliTraQ database and providing summaries;
- Managing workflow tracking for the Government Affairs team and assisting with written communications;
- Building and maintaining relationships with both faculty and staff and working with relevant key stakeholders to coordinate appropriate input and evaluation of MacEwan's positions;
- Preparing materials for meetings with government officials and partnership organizations;
- Researching and writing position papers and submissions to the government and government bodies; and
- Preparing responses to government positions or news releases.
