The Journeyman is responsible for the installation and/or repair of residential/commercial plumbing systems while providing effective customer service for all internal and external customers by using excellent, in-depth knowledge of plumbing systems. The Journey person is also responsible for the training and coaching of the next generation of Journey-Persons and must be willing to teach.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Journey-person must be well versed in all areas of commercial and residential plumbing, including but not limited to:
- Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems
- Install, repair and maintain domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems
- Installs pipes and fixtures, such as sinks and toilets, for water, gas, steam, air, or other liquids
- Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation
- Assembles fittings and valves for installation
- Collaborates with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipe fitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing
- Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other problems
- Chooses plumbing materials based on budget, location, and intended uses of building
- Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes
- Writes report documenting the problem and summary of actions taken
- Performs inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts
- Assists in the preparation of bids and schedules and oversees other workers, such as apprentices and helpers full compliance with Safety programs
- Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience
- Ontario Journey-Person Plumbers Licence
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Experience in commercial and or residential construction is an asset
