**SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES** Reporting to the Supervisor of Construction, the Construction Inspector/Operator is responsible for the inspection of City Capital Construction projects as well as Development projects as required. The Construction Inspector / Operator will work closely with the Project Coordinator assigned to each Capital Construction Project. Other duties include: - Responsible to ensure that all Contractors adhere to City Specifications and Standard Drawings, document all construction activities in a daily diary, record quantities and measurements for all road and underground services. - Complete all forms and red line drawings for "As-Construction" drawings in a timely matter. - Will be required to turn valves and operate hydrants on local watermains within the construction project for the purposes of the completion of water connections between the new watermain and the existing water distribution system. - Required to complete all DWQMS forms. Liaise with residents and businesses on the construction or development project. - Provide weekly sketches of the watermains and valving changes on the projects to the Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection staff. - Complete final inspections on all projects and report on any remaining deficiencies. - Complete other duties as assigned. **QUALIFICATIONS** - Successfully completion of Grade 12 or equivalent plus a one-year community college certificate in - Possess a two (2) year community college diploma in either Civil Engineering or Construction Management - Possess a Ministry of the Environment, Parks and Conservation (MECP) Water Operator Certificate Level 1 required, possession of an OIT Certificate and ability obtain the Level 1 in one year timeframe will be reviewed - Possess a C. Tech designation or is able to obtain designation within a one-year timeframe - Possess a valid Class 'G' Driver's License in good standing during employment - Comprehensive understanding and technical knowledge of installation methods of municipal infrastructure including watermains, sanitary and storm sewers and road - Certification from CSA in concrete inspection and testing would be an asset - Good working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications, Work Zone Safety and all other applicable legislation and specifications - Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple and changing demands and priorities - Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, listening and interpersonal skills are essential for dealing with the Public, Contractors, Consultants and City Staff - and remain organized while dealing with customers. - Knowledge of Excel and Word. **WAGE/SALARY RANGE**: $42.61 to $45.33 per hour (based on a 35 hour work week) plus benefts **Our organization is committed to promoting the independence, dignity, integration, and equality of opportunity of persons with disabilities by ensuring the accessibility of our facilities and services.
