Merlot Bistro is a modern bistro in Toronto offering a seasonal, ingredient-driven menu rooted in French and European influences. We’re known for our warm hospitality, thoughtful dishes, and high standards - and we’re looking for a skilled **Head Chef** to lead the kitchen.
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced chef who thrives in a well-run kitchen, enjoys mentoring a team, and takes pride in consistent, high-quality execution.
**What We’re Looking For**:
- Previous experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a high-quality, full-service kitchen
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- A calm, organized approach to managing staff, service, and back-of-house operations
- Skilled in kitchen systems: prep planning, scheduling, food costing, and inventory management
- A passion for creating approachable, seasonal, and well-executed dishes
- Interest in French-inspired bistro cuisine and wine pairing is a plus
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Lead and oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, from prep to service
- Maintain consistent quality and presentation across the menu
- Support, train, and motivate the kitchen team
- Collaborate with ownership on features, menus, and events
- Ensure a clean, safe, and well-organized kitchen environment
- Maintain cost control and efficiency without sacrificing quality

Pay: $65,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
