**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to and receives direction from the Manager, and liaises with the Managers of other VIHA programs to coordinate services, responsible for the daily supervision of therapists and other staff and related operational activities for the service. Coordinates the planning, development, implementation and monitoring of assigned service area. Coordinates program/service specific services for residents. Develops facility-based services for target population and develops program procedures/systems. Coordinates resources and liaises with other VIHA programs and long-term care homes. Maintains a patient caseload as required.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
Graduation from a university program in Physiotherapy recognized by the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA). Current practicing registration with the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia (CPTBC). Eligible for membership with the CPA.
Or
Graduation from a university program in Occupational Therapy or a school recognized by the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapy (CAOT). Eligible for membership in the CAOT or the CPA.
And
Completion of a recognized Department Management course; or five years recent related experience including three years supervisory/management experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
**Skills And Abilities**:
- Demonstrated ability in organization, planning and management skills, analytical and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and supervisor others.
- Clinical understanding of the Service and its role within the program and long-term care system.
- Ability to deliver treatment services and to evaluate the quality of service delivered by other clinicians.
- Understanding of community transition issues and ability to develop programs to facilitate community transition.
- Ability to deal effectively with a wide range of community and facility contacts, including staff, physicians, patients, families and agencies.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to implement current developments in the field of Geriatric and Rehabilitation Services and program area.
- Ability to work within budgetary parameters.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
