**OVERVIEW**

This role includes ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks. The incumbent thrives in a fast-paced environment, is able to multi-task and adapts easily to change. They are familiar with all accounting procedures and can manage daily financial transactions end-to-end.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Full-cycle accounting, financial statement preparation, month-end/year-end close including but cash, revenue and expenses
- Maintain the trial balance and general ledger and prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve accounting and financial reporting processes and lead in the implementation
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
- Provide technical support and advice for finance team and others
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
- Liaise with auditors to ensure timely completion of audit and mid-year review
- Review work performed by other members of the Finance team
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Liaise with Financial Controller to improve financial procedures
- Perform other duties as required

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
- Accounting designation (or working towards) is an asset
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in an accounting environment
- 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory/management role is an asset
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
- In-depth understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English
- Hands-on experience with Dynamics NAV is an asset

**CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES REQUIREMENTS**
- Ability to obtain a valid GPEB registration
- Ability to complete all BCLC required trainings
- Serving it Right Certification

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Able to lift, handle, and transport materials that are over 20lbs
- Required to sit, stand and walk during working hours
- Must be able to work extended hours during the week and on weekends is often required to meet deadlines
