- The Manager, Emergency Management is responsible for the coordination and integration of all activities necessary to build, sustain, and improve the capability to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from threatened or actual incidents.- The manager will provide leadership for the planning and oversight of hospital emergency codes such as evacuation, disaster/mass casualty, hazardous spills, fire safety/response, and loss of critical infrastructure, as well as other corporate level emergency plans and business continuity needs.- The manager will be support the programs primary objectives:- Develop plans in alignment with municipal, regional, provincial, and federal emergency management frameworks and those of health system partners;
- Ensure staff and those identified as having roles and responsibilities during an emergency are trained and exercised/tested on plans and emergency procedures regularly;
- Ensure mitigative and response-focused equipment is managed and maintained;
- Provide measures and procedures for regular evaluation, compliance, audit of the program;
- Support and inform an enterprise risk assessment of the various emergency situations that the organization may face;
- Provide measures and procedures to protect the organization’s ability to provide world class compassionate care, legislative compliance, continuous quality improvement, and quality assurance- The Manager will also oversee the Environmental and Waste Management, Safety Data Sheet, & Fire Protection portfolios.**What you will bring**:
- Master’s Degree With a specialization in health care or Emergency or Disaster Management, or equivalent level of education, Or equivalent leadership experience maybe considered;
- IMS 200 certification, or progress towards;
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years Experience in a Compliance enforcement or Emergency or Disaster or risk Management role in a health care setting;
- Experience in developing strategic plans and change management processes;
- Extensive experience in responding to incidents;
- Coordination of external EP partners and services and health services;
- Strong organization skills, time management, and public speaking;
- Strong judgment and strategic focus;
- Strong Interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work under pressure, resilience;
- Strategic planning experience;
- Change management experience;
- Knowledge of the Emergency management civil protection act, federal and provincial regulations, Accreditation Canada;
- Awareness of waste management principles;
- Knowledge of CSA standards relevant to Emergency management;
- Knowledge of principals of Emergency management - Mitigation/Prevention/Preparedness and Recovery;
- Knowledge of Emergency Risk management as it relates to Occupational Health and Safety Act in preparing and responding to disasters in the health;
- Knowledge of HIRA - Hazard identification and risk assessment methodology;
- Knowledge of IMS doctrine of Ontario;
- Knowledge of HICCS;
- Knowledge of relevant provincial response plans including Nuclear, Pandemic, Emergency, Radiation plans;
- Safety system analysis;
- Knowledge of hospital based first receivers best practice;
- Knowledge of exercise design evaluation and improvement;
- Knowledge of after-action report and corrective action plans;
- Expert knowledge of MS Word, including data base and Visio.**You will stand out with**:
