The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples represents the interests of Métis, status and Non-status Indians, and Southern Inuit Indigenous People living off-reserve in Canada. CAP is one of five National Indigenous Representative Organizations recognized by the Government of Canada.

Our vision is that all Indigenous peoples in Canada will experience the highest quality of life, founded on highest quality of life, founded on the rebuilding of our Nations. All Indigenous citizens will rightfully be treated with respect, dignity, integrity, and equality.
CAP works collectively with its ten provincial and territorial affiliate organizations across Canada to promote and advance the common interests, collective and individual rights, and needs of its constituents. Our mandate is to improve the socio-economic conditions of off-reserve status and non-status Indians, Métis and Southern Inuit living in urban or rural areas. CAP holds meetings with members of the government to find practical ways to improve federal programs, policies and services for off-reserve Indigenous Peoples.

**What You'll Do**
- Lead the development and coordination of national engagement session(s) with CAP’s Provincial and Territorial Organizations
- Provide project review and analysis
- Lead the development and coordination of legal and expert reports alongside CAP’s legal counsel and other experts
- Monitoring the status of agreements to support the implementation of goals and delivery of products and or services
- Developing and completing reports
- Represent CAP’s priorities and perspectives when dealing with external stakeholders
- Support the promotion and understanding of rights in Indigenous communities
- Delivery status reports on a regular basis to senior management
**You'll Need To Have**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in political or social sciences, law, human rights, project management, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
- Proven experience in project/program management and demonstrated work history related to Indigenous organizations.
- Must have an understanding of Indigenous, human, and treaty rights.
- Must have a strong understanding of issues for off-reserve Indigenous Peoples living in urban, rural, remote and isolated areas throughout Canada;
- Experience in building positive relationships with community-based organizations;
- Experience leading collaborative work plans and managing complex projects with external partners to ensure organizational priorities are reflected in final products.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills at the project management level in English. French is an asset
- Advanced writing skills including proposal and report writing ability, as well as pubic speaking and presentation skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to effectively coordinate multiple competing priorities to meet deadlines
- Effective listening skills, high levels of interpersonal competence and negotiating skills, as well as effective decision-making abilities
**Our Working Conditions**
- Hybrid working would normally be performed from the CAP National Office based in Ottawa
- Occasional weekend and evening work
- Salary commensurate with experience
