University Advancement (UA) at McMaster University is an integrated department that encompasses the areas of Communications & Public Affairs, Marketing, Development, Alumni Engagement, Stewardship and Advancement Services & Operations; areas that coordinate their activities and work as a team to further McMaster’s relationships, reputation and resources.

As a key member of the UA team, Advancement Services & Operations Intern’s the specific area of focus is on gift processing and maintaining up-to-date biographical information within the University’s database of alumni, friends and funders.

**Accountabilities**
- Play a key role in the planning and delivery of all advancement-related activities as part of the Records team within Advancement Services and Operations
- Provide support to the Manager, Advancement Records within the department and facilitate the efficient and effective operation of the office.
- Ensure an efficient flow of information and administrative support for the Records team within Advancement Services & Operations

Gift Processing
- Accurately enter gifts, pledges, and pledge payments of all tender and transaction types in the gift system. Review recorded gift and pledge batches for accuracy in gift allocation in alignment with funder instructions
- Ensure all processed cheques and credit cards are recorded in the University’s online system
- Perform all aspects of the gift recording process with accuracy and generate tax receipts in compliance with University protocols and government requirements

Biographical processing
- Create new funder records and modify existing records, update of biographical data
- Research, enter, and maintain engagement and biographical information in the development information system
- Perform research, analysis, and compilation of data related to the private support to the University

Other Duties
- Process sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Respect and enhance the funder experience through all activities performed

Look for ways to improve processes and help implement the changes

**Qualifications**

**Education**:University degree in a relevant field.

**Experience**:2 years of relevant experience.
