In addition, members of this team of professionals provide dental services to people who need them, do research in our communities and work with politicians and decision makers to create bylaws and guidelines that lead to healthier communities.

We are looking for a highly organized Accounting Assistant to join our team.

**RESPONSIBLITIES**:

- Perform daily and periodic accounts receivable functions including processing receipts, preparing invoices, performing collections activities, and preparing the bank deposits;
- Perform daily and periodic accounts payable functions including tracking, verifying, and processing purchase orders, shipping documents, accounts payable vouchers (cheque requests), petty cash disbursements and invoice payments;
- Process and integrate mileage reimbursement claims;
- Assist in the maintenance and operation of the corporate purchasing card program including account set-up and maintenance and preparing monthly bills for review;
- Perform daily and periodic general accounting functions such as journal entries, allocation entries, bank entries and reconciliations;
- Identify and solve errors, omissions and discrepancies in documents;
- Prepare accounts payable and receivable batches (input) for authorization and posting;
- Prepare cheques and EFT’s for authorization;
- Process internal administration for parking cards, and processing through payroll;
- Prepare reports and summarize data;
- Validate timesheets in payroll system;
- Perform administrative and clerical duties including filing, record keeping, sorting mail, data entry, compiling statistics and reports, etc.; and
- Provides back-up coverage for other Accounting & Administrative Assistants as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Completion of a Business Administration - Accounting diploma or certificate program
- Demonstrated ability to enter data into databases with a high level of accuracy and speed.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills in order to provide excellent client service and work effectively with team members.
- Ability to do self-directed work and to work well with team members.
- Ability to take initiative, prioritize work and balance competing work demands.
- Detail oriented, organized and strong analytical skills.
- The ability to communicate in French and other languages would be considered an asset.
