**ACCOUNTS PAYABLE TECHNICIAN**

Reporting to the Senior Accounting Officer, the Accounts Payable Technician is responsible for ensuring that accounts payable policies and procedure requirements are met and supporting the Commission’s decentralized accounts payable structure. He/she/they reviews and approves construction claims; conducts reviews and audits of payments and invoices processed by other business areas of the Commission; and performs and leads compliance audits of employee expense claims, ensuring they are submitted in accordance with BC Housing’s policies and procedures. The position is responsible for a variety of accounting functions including, but not limited to processing the accounts payable cycle in compliance with BC Housing’s Accounting Procedures, resolving voucher-to-purchase, orders, and payment discrepancies, creating payments, and supporting the accounting department in the preparation of month-end and year-end activities.
**CANDIDATE PROFILE**
**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**:
- Post-secondary diploma in finance and accounting or other relevant discipline.
- Considerable accounts payable experience in a high-volume computerized environment.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable to the employer.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:
- Sound knowledge of accounting and accounts payable principles.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal communication and writing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills including a high degree of tact and diplomacy under stressful situations.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure and to plan ahead for critical dates.
- Ability to exercise attention to detail and proficiency with figures.
- Ability to exercise discretion, sound judgment, and perform all duties in a professional manner.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
