Youth Worker Supervisor

**PURPOSE**:Reporting to the Youth Services Manager, the Youth Worker Supervisor will be responsible for providing supervision to the Youth Services team and coordinate the delivery of youth services to program participants. This is a full-time permanent position that works primarily on site with local travel required.
**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**:Cowichan Tribes offers an excellent benefit and pension plan available after successful completion of the probationary period. The position includes paid training, paid vacation and paid sick leave. Depending on experience, the position starts at $32.78-$34.78 per hour ($59,651.82- $63,306.16 annually).
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Provide Supervision to Team Members**:
- Point of contact for Youth Workers on evening shifts
- Provide day-to-day guidance, scheduling and support to Youth Services team
- Participate in training and orientation of new team members as directed
- Ensure compliance of staff with all internal and external policies and procedures
- Consult and debrief with Youth Services team regarding program activities and participants as required
- Track staff attendance to ensure daily service delivery
- Attend department and community meetings, workshops, and organizations as required
**Coordinate Delivery of Youth Services to Program Participants**:
- Communicate current opportunities for youth such funding opportunities, academic and athletic opportunities, and other information
- Provide basic individual support to youth, and provide support strategies
- Refer clients to internal and external resources when appropriate
- Ensure youth safety at all times
- Develop trusting relationships with youth
- Ensure weekly cleaning duties are completed
- Prepare purchase orders for the Youth Services team
- Coordinate after hour events
- Driver for pick-ups, drop-offs, field trips and events
- Consult with Cowichan Tribes internal services and external service providers when needed
- Work a flexible schedule as required
- Track events for reporting purposes
- Pick up supplies and food for Youth Service
- Other related duties
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (please attach all required documents)**
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Services or related field
- 3-5 years’ experience working with children and youth
- A combination of education and related experience may be considered
- Experience working in a First Nations community is essential, and a willingness to learn about culture, customs, and traditions of Cowichan people
- Certification in First Aid & CPR Level 1
- Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector
- WHMIS certificate
- Valid class 5 BC driver’s license, reliable vehicle and satisfactory driver’s abstract
- Assist Training certificate considered an asset
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES**:
- Knowledge of Children and Family Services Act
- Knowledge of behavioral and mental health issues that face First Nations youth
- Knowledge of Cowichan language, culture, and teachings
- Knowledge of Stsi'elh Stuhw tu Smun'eem and Ts’ewulhtun Health Centre internal/external resources available
- Written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Time management with the ability to multitask different tasks simultaneously
- Must be available to work a variety of shifts including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekday, weekends, and on-call shifts
