Sparkling Legacy is hiring Child and Youth Care Workers If you're interested in the job but not the area, apply anyway- we hire island-wide.

We provide in-home and community-based lifeskills supports, respite care, and housekeeping to primarily neurodivergent households, and we are proud to have a heavily neurodivergent staff (our owner is AuDHD with 2E kiddos).

  • Non-judgemental, helpful, and gentle/encouraging demeanour
  • You're willing to chip in and get your hands dirty or play along if a messy task comes up (or you will communicate openly if this is a sensory squick for you)
  • You believe in autonomy and champion that for the people you help
  • You have an excellent understanding of consent and apply it throughout your life
  • Safety focus and experience supporting people who may use unexpected behaviours to communicate their needs
  • You must be willing to center the people you serve- we are often a significant piece in a child's attachment and support matrix. Please don't apply if you are flaky or noncommittal. This is more than "just a job" to the people we help.
  • Ability to problem solve in high pressure situations
  • Physical ability to handle the demands of a physical job
  • Desire to help and clean up around the house- housework is part of this role for many of our clients
  • Ability to pass a vulnerable sector criminal record check
  • Access to your own reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clear driving record are greatly beneficial to this position.

Please note: because this is a community based position and not a facility, we will not have a full time role for you to walk into. Our positions ramp up from part-time/casual to full time roles for the staff that want that many hours and have good availability.
