Accounting and Office Manager

Impact Public Affairs, a well-respected public relations and government relations firm based in Ottawa, is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented individual to work in our fast-paced office environment.
The Accounting and office Manager should work to harmonize financial operations, develop effective financial strategies, guide efforts towards financial stability, monitor all financial activities, promote revenue growth, ensure compliance with accounting regulations, and maintain good relationships with staff and clients.
In this multi-faceted role, the Accounting and Office Manager will be responsible for:
Finance:
- Overseeing and directing the financial management of the company, including managing the annual budget cycle, monthly financial statement preparation, review, and timely reporting to the President
- Forecasting and managing cash flow
- Monitoring financial performance and providing recommendations to support organizational growth
- Evolving current finance procedures to ensure concise and agile internal processes in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Interacting with consultants through the contract review process
- Coordinating preparation of annual tax returns
- Reviewing, sourcing and maintaining company insurance policies
- Approving multiple payrolls and validating that all statutory withholdings, remittances and filings are processed to ensure compliance
- Implementing efficiencies in finance systems and processes to automate and increase capacity
- Overseeing financial planning and analysis across the business
- Paying invoices by verifying transaction information; obtaining authorization of payment; verifying and processing employee expense forms
- Obtaining revenue by verifying transaction information; preparing and mailing invoices; identifying delinquent accounts and insufficient payments
- Maintaining financial historical records by filing accounting documents
Administration:
- Work with the Executive to create and enforce company policies and procedures
- Responsible for all corporate and human resource activities including employee benefits, corporate insurance and related activities
- Onboarding of new employees
- Management of office supply contracts - IT, phone system, etc.
- Management and tracking of employee vacation days
**Qualifications**:
- University or college degree, with a professional accounting designation
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience
- Bilingualism, considered an asset
- Collaborative leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational, prioritization and project management skills
- Proficiency in accounting software

Pay: $50,000.00-$54,000.00 per year
