**ROLE OVERVIEW**

Manage and mobilize the People & Capabilities (HR) functions in Canada and support of the delivery of project targets in a safe, efficient, cost effective and innovative manner. Provide direction, advice, coaching and operational support in all aspects of human resources with project leadership and your HR team members.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Manage, influence and empower direct reports to execute the planned and required duties and tasks to ensure performance targets are achieved.

- Manage and drive employee and industrial relation strategy and relationships to ensure all issues relating to employment conditions and employee conduct are addressed proactively and as collectively bargained.
- Support other project functions; Health & Safety, Environment, Technical Services, Finance, Production, and Maintenance.
- Ensure appropriate document management and records are maintained in accordance with company and legislative requirements
- Provide direction, advice, coaching and operational support in all aspects of human resources across the project, be a connector between the project and other Group Thiess resources in a regional functional model.
- Assist the Site leadership and Americas Leadership Team to develop and implement appropriate strategies and actions to deliver the best people outcomes for the site.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to ensure effective and efficient recruitment of Salary and Hourly employees to meet local requirements.
- Ensure the processes for on-boarding employees are effective and assist in engaging and maintaining employees to reduce turnover.
- Partner with Training and Development to ensure all employees are appropriately trained and authorized to conduct work activities assigned.
- Ensure all relevant employees understand and work under appropriate company policies, standards, procedures and rules.

**DESIRABLE SKILLS**
- High level of understanding of contemporary industrial and employee relations including knowledge of the relevant legislation.
- Well-developed written and oral communication, negotiating and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and coach people.
- Skills in planning, analysis and problem solving.
- Proficient in the Microsoft enterprise platform Office packages including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel

**ESSENTIAL EDUCATION AND JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- A 4-year University degree in
- Preference to a relevant business discipline or technical study
- Experience may be be considered in lieu of a degree
- Relevant experience in a Human Resources
- Preference to site based operational experience and supporting an employee population that’s collectively bargained.
- Authorization to work lawfully in the Canada without sponsorship from Thiess is required.

- Able to live and work in extreme winter conditions with temperatures regularly below zero degrees Celcius.
