**Project Site Superintendent**
McSween Custom Fabricating, Erecting, Welding Ltd. Is a Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada, based multi-discipline industrial fabrication and construction company that has been serving the industrial plant community since 1980. Our expertise covers a broad range of industries, which include Petrochemical, Fertilizer, Cement, Mining, Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical, Heavy Industrial, Light Industrial, and Power Generation.
McSween is currently seeking an exceptional, driven individual to join our team on a term contract basis as Project Site Superintendent.
**Purpose**:
Reporting to the Project Manager this role will be responsible for the implementation of McSweens Safety/Environmental, Quality and Execution Plans. As the Project Site Superintendent, you will direct, mentor, and monitor crews to ensure safe completion of assigned projects while maintaining schedule and budget.
**What you will do**:
- Clearly and promptly communicate to management any changes of scope or project issues as they appear.
- Set clear expectations and hold crews accountable to meet all safety, quality and production expectations.
- Monitor work execution to make sure tools, material, equipment and manpower is handled in a manner that will not hinder performance, productivity or cost.
- Attend all coordination meetings as requested by the client.
- Monitor and manage time expectations of crews
- Responsible for material storage and preservation to make sure it is stored in appropriate fashion.
- Responsible for performance and career development reviews of direct reports if necessary.
- Review and submit daily reports, this will include daily activities with spent man-hours, installed quantities, delays effecting the days operations and planned activities for next day.
- Make sure that weekly reporting is accurately compiled and submitted at the end of each shift.
- Responsible for sketching and verifying field measurements as required for estimating and/or drafting/engineering.
- Responsible for field-based estimates on scopes smaller than 100MHrs.
- Prepare project specific work plans and make sure that all required material, tools, equipment and 3rd party contractors are available to complete the required scope.
- Review work plans with project team to verify accuracy and completeness prior to starting any work.
- Provide weekly 2 week lookahead schedule with detailed activities and work remaining (qtys & hrs). Will also include recovery details for lost time from previous weeks and any possible schedule conflicts.
- Review schedule with frontline Supervisor and adequately prepare to complete the work safely without unnecessary delays or last-minute shortcuts.
- Plan to effectively and efficiently complete the installation according to with drawings, specifications, codes and industry standards. Identify all “HOLD” & “WITNESS” points on the ITP and provide sufficient notice to Client and McSween QC as they come up.
- Coordinate interdepartmental alignment to ensure success of the project.
- Monitor requests for leave to make sure adequate crew sizes are available to maintain schedule.
- Manage and track costs on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and be prepared to explain all costs related to assigned crews.
- Monitor frontline supervisor to make sure they plan and prepare for daily work fronts and successfully communicate daily requirements to their crews.
**Safety**:
- Audit Field Hazard Assessments periodically to make sure that the assessments are being done properly and provide mentorship as required.
- Conduct toolbox meetings
- Investigate and report all health and safety concern. Make sure appropriate action is taken.
- Take immediate action to correct workers when at-risk behavior is observed.
- Responsible for maintaining safe site conditions by making sure housekeeping is a priority at all times
- Responsible for stopping an operation from being performed when: The operation has not been properly planned. Safety is not an integral part of the process.
- Responsible for communicating all safety rules, guidelines and safe work practices to the crew as well as initial crew competency assessments.
- Responsible for written Safe Work Practices for activities not covered under McSween Safety Manual and Safe Work Procedures.
- Provide visible management commitment in implementing and maintaining the safety culture. Walk the talk.
Responsible for 30-day Safety Follow-up. One-on-one conversation with craft to review site safety expectations
**Physical Requirements**:
- Must be able to climb ladders, stairs, and other structurally sound objects that will support their total body weight.
- Normal visual acuity, depth perception, color discrimination, working around hazardous materials areas and working/balancing at heights.
- Sufficient hearing to hear warning signals.
- Able to work at various heights, exposure to dust, fumes or gases and to changes of weather.
