Finance Manager/controller

**Key Responsibilities**
**Accounting & Financial Management**
- Maintain full and accurate accounting records.
- Complete all daily accounting transactions, including general ledger and VISA reconciliations.
- Review and transmit invoices to clients; manage invoice and purchase order filing systems.
- Handle Accounts Payable and Receivable, ensuring timely billing and deposits.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including Progress Draws and Holdbacks.
**Job Costing & Financial Reporting**
- Set up and manage job costing systems between QuickBooks and LMN.
- Present updated job costing for ongoing projects during weekly planning meetings.
- Assist with budget preparation and generate financial reports for management.
**Payroll & Compliance**
- Enter and process payroll for 25+ employees using PayWorks.
- Ensure compliance with payroll procedures and relevant legislation (e.g., Employment Standards, CRA regulations).
- Respond to payroll information requests from Service Canada and other authorities.
**Government Remittances & Year-End Financials**
- Plan and complete HST and other government remittances.
- Collaborate with the company's accountant to ensure timely completion of year-end financials.
**Team Leadership**
- Oversee and manage administrative staff, including task delegation, training, and performance tracking.
- Foster a culture of efficiency, accountability, and professional development within the team.
**Additional Responsibilities**
- Manage company health benefits and group RRSP plans.
- Support owners with financial insights related to business development and strategic planning.
**Qualifications**
- **Education**: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, is a bonus.
- **Experience**: Proven experience in financial management, preferably within the landscaping or construction industry.
- **Technical Skills**: Proficiency in accounting software, specifically QuickBooks and LMN.
- **Leadership Skills**: Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- **Communication**: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- **Compliance Knowledge**: In-depth understanding of payroll processing and compliance with Canadian legislation.
- **Analytical Skills**: Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- **Collaboration**: Ability to work collaboratively with owners, senior management, and cross-functional teams.
