- **Term**: seasonal - May - December
- **Reports To**: Executive Chef, Head Event Chef
- **Nature & Scope**
- The Event Chef Lead will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of White Table Catering Co. Events.
- Focus will be placed on communicating with logistics, sales and operational teams to ensure that all aspects of the events are well thought out to ensure consistent and excellent food quality and service execution at each event.
- Importance must also be placed on maintaining a professional and productive work environment and exceeding guest expectations with respect to meal quality and presentation, and ensuring food safety standards during preparation and at our events.
- When not at events, (off site at our Exclusive Venues, or other event spaces or on site at the Hangar Venue), the Event Chef will work closely with the Culinary Team to ensure the successful operations of the kitchen facility with a keen eye towards excellent preparation, creativity, food quality, packaging for transport, and other kitchen duties as needed.
- The Event Chef will provide professional, focused, and humble leadership to the event staff and kitchen team.
- **The Event Chef should**:
- Be capable of leading a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment - 2-3 years Catering, Hotel or restaurant experience is a mustEnjoy cooking in different environments (outdoors, indoors, homes, large venues)
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral
- Be technically proficient in their culinary craft and have a desire to continue learning and growing as a cook and have a desire to mentor others
- Be adaptable to ever changing environments / challenges (for example weather related challenges) and ensure that they remain calm and resilient under pressure
- Be creative and keep up to date with trends in the ever-evolving culinary landscape
- Be organized, efficient and prepared. Always ahead of the game yet able to think on their feet
- Represent themselves and the company in a professional manner at all times through their conduct and communication with vendor partners, guests and other associates
**Duties and Responsibilities**
**Operational**Approach all tasks in line with the White Table philosophy, aesthetic, and standard of excellence
- Ensure that menu items are prepared in a timely manner and to the highest level
- Ensure that all logístical items are in place for the successful running of each event
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with all team members across the organization
- Train and manage event staff in accordance with company standards
- Assist with staff scheduling for their events
- Oversee maintenance and cleanliness of equipment by the logistics team
- Maintain required Food Safe health standards
- Up keep and work within the company operational software system - Caterease
- Communicate with Event Specialists, Logistics and Sales Team to ensure that all elements are in place for each event
- Assist with loading of equipment and food into mobile trailer or van and drive to and from events across the lower mainland
- Participate in an evaluation process after events and discuss recommendations/plans for improvement with the Management team
- Complete any other duties necessary to ensure the success of the operation
- Ensure and maintain a clean, sanitary, and professional work environment
**Requirements**:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on the business and event-specific needsMust be eligible to work in Canada
- Current Level 1 Food Safe
- Phone plan with data needed; for use with workplace apps and communication when teams are split
- Valid BC Driver’s License
- Ability to bend, lift, and carry 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and be mobile for an excess of 8 hours
- Current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector upon hire
- Proficient in Gmail, G-Suite
